10 Holstein cows in mid-lactation (~90 days in milk) were subjected to either dietary-induced negative energy balance (n=5) or fed ad libitum to maintain positive energy balance (n=5). The cows were inoculated with 5,000 cfu of Streptococcus uberis strain O140J into the mammary quarter. Both the infected and non-infected rear quarters of all cows were biopsied at 20 hours post-inoculation for gene expression profiling. Mammary tissue was cohybridzed with RNA from a pool of bovine tissues. All samples were hybridized to duplicate slides with reverse labeling (40 microarrays total). The supplementary file 'GSE15344_raw_data_readme.txt' contains a description of the contents of the raw data files.
