[…] All data were tested for homoscedasticity prior to comparing the somatic growth rates from the growth experiments and the numbers of subitaneous eggs from the reproduction experiments using an analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by post-hoc Tukey HSD tests with the GLM module of Statistica v.6 software package (StatSoft Inc.). Since the numbers of resting eggs in the first reproduction experiment contained zero values, this data was analyzed using a Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA followed by pairwise comparisons with Mann-Whitney U-tests from the nonparametrics module of Statistica. The algal amino acid contents and the data on the egg developmental stages were compared via one-way ANOVA using SigmaPlot v.11 (Systat Software Inc.).
