A database driven information system for fishes and other aquatic organisms. The system presently provides the ability to view the cytogenetic information of 726 fish species belonging to 146 families of 47 orders covered into 866 records. Besides, the database of the system covers other valuable information, such as habitat, distribution, occurrence, conservation status and taxonomy of each species. The system with different interactive search options provides the ability to retrieve and view the information of interest from the database. A data submission facility has also been provided through data submission panel. The database can serve as a unique and useful resource for cytogenetic characterization, sex determination, chromosomal mapping, cytotaxonomy, karyo-evolution and systematics of fishes.
