A database combining movies, animated schemata, interactive "modules" and pictures that will greatly facilitate the understanding of Drosophila development. FlyMove aims to use multimedia presentations to facilitate understanding of Drosophila development. Animations and 3D-representations facilitate understanding of complex processes, morphogenetic movements or anatomic setups. In addition, microscope images and movies help to integrate these processes with real life. The use of interactive electronic media allows retrieval of selected information bit by bit to form a single scheme on screen. We also created camera-flights around a developing structure made by 3D-animation programs. Finally, a ‘virtual microscope format’ allows interactive focusing through stacks of sections.
