As more small RNA sequencing libraries are becoming available, it clearly emerges that microRNAs (miRNAs) are highly heterogeneous both in length and sequence. In comparison to canonical miRNAs, miRNA isoforms (termed as "isomiRs") might exhibit different biological properties, such as a different target repertoire, or enhanced/reduced stability.
A free online database has been created to integrate isomiRs detected by our previously published algorithm CPSS. In total, 2727 samples (Small RNA NGS data downloaded from ArrayExpress) from eight species (Arabidopsis thaliana, Drosophila melanogaster, Danio rerio, Homo sapiens, Mus musculus, Oryza sativa, Solanum lycopersicum and Zea mays) are analyzed. At present, 308 919 isomiRs from 4706 mature miRNAs are collected into IsomiR Bank. In addition, IsomiR Bank provides target prediction and enrichment analysis to evaluate the effects of isomiRs on target selection.
Provides compiled isomirs. miRNA isomir database is an online resource which allows users to assess the expression level and heterogeneity of a specific miRNA species among different samples. This database provides cataloged and compared distribution of miRNA sequence variants in mouse and human samples. The miRNA analyzes was performed with NextGen sequencing platforms.
