RLZ

An algorithm that compresses a collection of genomes or sequences from the same species with respect to the reference sequence for that species using a simple greedy technique, akin to LZ77 parsing (Ziv & Lempel 1977). RLZ parses a genome into factors, or substrings, each of which occurs in the reference sequence. Compared to other DNA compression methods, RLZ is fast, and is able to achieve good compression.
